Washington State's local and migratory birds are affected by the consumer choices and land management decisions that we make.  Seattle Audubon Society recognizes the importance of balancing environmental protection with society's need for wood products. Timber harvesting supplies us with wood furniture, construction materials, and paper and does not have to lead to erosion, habitat destruction, or depressed timber communities.

FSC certifications strike a balance between economically viable timber harvests, protecting birds and other wildlife, and supporting long-term sustainable forestry jobs.
