About the Birds

Seattle Audubon has highlighted 11 Habitats at Risk that are vital to the survival of the birds we aim to protect.  Working forests, or those private and public lands where trees are harvested for lumber, significantly contribute to the acreage of several of these unique habitats.  Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forestry operations harvest timber by means that are profitable while at the same time environmentally responsible, increasing the amount of viable habitat for birds and other wildlife.

FSC certification protects these bird species and many more.
